Too Long

It has been far too long since I've written.  During this time away I've been trying different modalities of decreasing my foot/leg pain.  To date here are some of the things I've tried.
- Lost weight; since 2008 when I weighed in at 202 lbs, as of yesterday I weigh 179.  I believe this has been important.
- Eliminated Dr. Pepper.  This was difficult since I really like Dr. Pepper.  In addition I've not had anything containing caffeine for nearly a full week now.  I believe this too has helped.
- Using essential oils that have reported properties to reduce pain and facilitate nerve repair.  Not sure about this one yet but I am continuing.
- Weekly chiropractic visit.  I have some professional associates that are very much against this idea, but I believe this too is having a positive effect.
- Most recently I've started some aggressive self massage of my feet and toes.  I literally grab all my toes at once with my hand coming over the top of the digits and begin working them forward and back pushing my fingers deep into the joints.  There is definite discomfort during the process but the immediate pain reduction is amazing.  Maybe just endorphins kicking in due to the pain.
- I watched a YouTube video about massaging the feet and the fibular head.  In fact I just finished massaging the fibular head immediately prior to beginning this post.  The sensation is promising.  I encourage you to click on the highlighted words and check out the videos.  Try some of the massages yourself.  The key I believe is NOT to be timid.  Grab and move the foot bones and the fibular head with authority!
I'm especially interested how these massage techniques will help me tomorrow during a long day at work.
- Gravity boots; I hang upside down at least twice per day when at work.
- TRX Suspension training system.  This system allows me to strengthen and stretch my back, hamstrings, and abs in a supportive way for the other items.
I know this is a lot, but I figure the "shotgun" approach is better than the "rifle" approach.  Trying many methods at once confuses the determination which one works best, so I'm going with the concept that they all work together toward overall improvement.  Try them all or pick and choose.  But if you're not seeing relief from your current regimen then it is time to try something new!
